Well, who the hell is Tim?!
When I was in high school in the mid-90s, I had a classmate named Sean. He always came to class with a cool pair of shoes, some old school windbreaker with a racing stripe down the side or some weird vintage shirt. My interest was piqued so I asked him one day where was he getting all these cool clothes. He told me, “From Tim’s garage.” Sean’s buddy, Tim, was putting all of his old skate clothes in bags in his garage and Sean was raiding his hand-me-downs and giving them new life! Vintage style and thrift shopping hadn’t quite become a “thing” yet in Haughton, Louisiana, so Sean’s unique and novel approach to style really made an impact on me. And at 16 years old, I wasn’t sure I’d ever open a clothing boutique, but I knew if one day I did, Tim’s Garage would make a great name!
Fast-forward 20 years, my love of art, design and the sub-cultures that breed the weird, funny, and cool has manifested into a new brand and retail experience that embraces so many of the things that I find interesting and fun. From sports, to music, art, and a little bit of hippy stuff, Tim’s Garage is a living portfolio of brands I’ve created myself from the ground up. Its a old crusty box of unused hardware printed over 50 years ago. Its a vibe of 70s muscle cars, 80s BMX nostalgia, and 90s punk rock. Its the culmination of all the late nights in my own garage printing posters, shirts and stickers. Its nostalgia for the past and the thrill of discovering something for the first time. Its the spirit of going your own way because the path in front of you wasn’t clearly pointed out. Its the high-fives in the heat of the summer tucked away in the woods at the BMX jumps. Its riding around with the windows down and “feelin’ the noize!” Tim’s Garage was made quit some time ago; it just needed to get dusted off and rediscovered.
